Sledding Tomorrow

Sorry for the late blog notice, but we will be going sledding tomorrow! Yippee it's supposed to be warm (to WI standards :) ) If you have a sled that you are willing to send with your child we would greatly appreciate it! I will bring a few and am very willing to share as well :)

Valentine's Day

Today we took advantage of our half day to make bags for our Valentine's on Friday.  Everyone really let their creative juices flow! It was fun to hang out for a bit and create something :)
Please note that it is not required to bring valentine's in on Friday, but if you do choose to do so, please make sure you make one for each member of our class.  A huge thanks in advance :)

Take a look at our Valentine Monster bags!

Here is a copy of the Valentine Letter if you should need a second copy:

Informational Writing and Historical Fiction Unit beginning on WW II

Recently we have been rev'ing up to begin a unit on World War 2, focusing on historical fiction of the 1940's in reading and informational writing about the 1940's in writing.  Yesterday we took some time to write down what we thought we know about various topics centered around the 1940's and World War 2.  Some included: The Home Front, The women's role in WW 2, Pearl Harbor, Infantry, the war in the Pacific, the Holocaust, etc.  Pictures were put onto tag board to rev up their minds and each student was able to leave little anecdotes about what they thought they new about each topic on the poster.  Soon we will research and read all we can (keeping in mind what is appropriate for 4th graders) on these topics to become experts.  After the unit is over we will go back and write what we actually know, and look to see if we had any misconceptions going into the unit.  Take a look at us in action!
