Take a look at these options to spark up reading at home, or to challenge your avid reader!
1. Remember we are in the midst of the Mallards Reading Incentive. For every 100 minutes your child reads, they earn a prize. The home base prize is a free ticket to a Mallard's baseball game in June!
2. We are half way through March Book Madness! Ask your child what it's all about. We started with 32 books, and last week we narrowed it down to 16 titles. The library staff has pulled these books for students to check out. The hope is not necessarily that students read all these books (although they are great titles!) but that students are constantly talking about reading and great book in the month of March. Ask your child which books they voted for this round! Read a few of the books as a family, or start your own book bracket at home!
3. Don't forget about Battle of the Books! The battle of the books competition will be held in May and teams will be formed soon! This is an optional reading activity at school. Students are asked to read and remember as many books off the battle list as possible (including authors). At the competition teams are asked questions about plot events, characters, setting etc. Is your child interested in this competition? Grab a few of these books and read them as a family!
